She Was Angry About Her Neighbor’s Kids and Dog Coming Onto Her Property—Then She Saw What Her Cameras Caught

Imagine living next to a neighbor who has kids and a dog. You also have kids and a dog, so that’s not really a problem. Would it be the problem if the neighbor’s kids and dog kept coming over to your property, playing in your yard and leaving it a mess?
In this story, one woman is in this situation, and she tries to be friendly about it and simply explain the situation to the neighbor. However, the neighbor is the opposite of understanding.
It gets to the point where the idea of these two neighbors ever being friends seems completely off the table.
Keep reading for all the details.
AITA? Went over to neighbours house.
I was leaving my house yesterday afternoon to go buy something to eat.
I have 2 special vehicles and 2 new vehicles.
The 2 special vehicles belong to my father which I am looking after for him.
I sat on my porch putting my shoes on and notice a kid riding his bike around my property and looking at the cars.
She warned the kids.
As I walk outside I noticed the neighbours kid next door in yellow yelling out to the kid in white to go near the cars.
I asked him not to do that and that I have a camera so I will know if he continues while I’m gone.
However this may be relevant because two days ago I went over the the next door house and advised them of their dog going on my lawn, I told them that I don’t mind but please pick it up after as I have a new puppy that I’m toilet training all hours of the night.
The neighbor seemed understanding.
She apologised and stated she will pick it up.
I said Thankyou And I left with a comment about the beautiful weather to which she agreed.
Back to the kid riding his bike around this child had never done this before on my property this makes me question that this could be a retaliation from me asking about the dog.
Well I get back with my food and review my cameras.
Let’s see what the cameras captured.
I can see the child throwing a skateboard near one of the cars and riding on the lawn and sticking his finger up.
They jump on the water meter on my property and then they bring their mother over from next door and she walks to the front of my property and the children are pointing at the camera showing the mother where it is and the mother also sticks her finger up at it and walks off and appears to encourage the children’s behaviour.
So I walk over to her house and knock on her door because I wanted to clear the air and don’t want my property damaged by children.
I’m not sure what the kids told their mother, but she didn’t have the story straight.
As she answers the door I say hello and ask her how she is and immediately she is hostile and does not say a word and stands with her arms crossed.
I asked if there was a problem?
And she becomes more hostile and states angrily that I am recording her children.
I told her that I definitely was not recording her children and that the cameras are on my property only to record my vehicles, I further stated that the cameras do not have any view of her house. I advised her that I would like to get along as neighbours.
There was no changing the neighbor’s mind.
She kept stating that I was recording her children and this seemed to be the only main thing stated.
I further stated that I do not appreciate how the children were behaving on my property and that I seen the fingers being stuck up.
She stated “so what I can stick my finger up and do whether I like”.
I immediately ended the conversation and told her to have a good night and she slammed the door and as I walked away I could hear her swearing.
She regrets talking to the neighbor.
I should not have gone over there and tried to clear the air at all it was obvious from the footage I had that she was childish and encouraging the childrens vandalising and malicious behaviour on my property.
I feel like perhaps I was the jerk and perhaps should have just left it alone. I just fail to understand why asking someone nicely to please pick up after their dog on my property or having a camera would cause someone so much distress that they resort to this.
I even went as far as putting a privacy screen up for her and checking she was happy with it to going out of my way and supply her with a Christmas box of fresh food.
At the time I guess I thought we were all adults and being a mother myself we could come to an understanding but unfortunately not.

I do not want children vandalising my property and an adult encouraging that behaviour. So reddit do you think AITA?
The neighbor is clearly the problem. As many people say, good fences make good neighbors. The kids and the dog need to stay off OP’s property.
Let’s see how Reddit responded to this story.
Here’s a suggestion to compile evidence.

Another person shares something she could tell the neighbor.

It really is too bad the way it worked out.

At least she tried.

At least she can stop trying to be friends with the neighbor. She knows the neighbor is unreasonable. It is what it is.
I’d get a fence and maybe some sprinklers.
She’s not doing anything wrong, but the neighbor is being unreasonable.
