She Let Her Unemployed Friend Crash for a Week—Until Her Guest Took Over the House and Brought Home a Cat

Helping a friend through a difficult time can sometimes lead to being taken advantage of.
The following story is about a woman who invited her unemployed friend to stay with her for a few days.
However, the arrangement lasted for two months, with her friend creating problems at home.
Things got worse when her son began feeling uncomfortable in his own home because of the guest’s behavior.
Yikes! Talk about an abusive house guest. Let’s take a closer look!
AITA for telling my “roommate” she has to go?
I am a 40 year old woman.
A couple months ago, my friend (39F) I’ve known for years was going through a hard time and lost her job.
I invited her to stay at my house for a couple of days to a week so she could relax and job hunt while not worrying about her own home.
Well, those couple of days turned into that week, and that week turned into 2 months.
This woman started noticing some issues with her friend.
Over the course of these 2 months, she has been a literal nightmare.
She never got a job. I don’t even think she was trying.
I had her stay in the guest bedroom, and she destroyed it.
There are scratches on the walls, tens of mini holes from (I think?) her trying to hang up her own decoration.
There are random stains on the carpet that I can assure you were not there before.
Her friend brought home a cat without telling her.
I am also noticing that my clothes were going missing.
And all of a sudden, she coincidentally had the same clothes.
Not only that, but one day, she told me she was going for a drive to clear her head. I was happy.
That quickly switched when she came home and was holding a cat. She brought a cat into my home.
I was unprepared. I had no litter box, no cat food, no cat bowls. Nothing
And guess who had to pay for it all in the end? Yup.
She finally had enough.
I was done. I could not handle cooking for an extra mouth every night, having to clean up after her, and doing her laundry.
But what really broke me was when my son said he didn’t like coming home.
Because she would always be in his “hangout” spaces, the living room and the nook, and then ruin it.
He also didn’t like the fact that she was running all over me, basically.
She told her friend to leave, but she didn’t take it very well.
So a couple days ago, I told her she needed to leave that night.
She was literally furious with me and told me I am a terrible friend for doing this.
And I apologize if I sound out of order. I am quite literally fuming as I’m writing this.
AITA?

Wow, this friend went from needing a temporary place to stay to practically treating the house like her own.
Seriously, who wouldn’t be frustrated with all the house damage, missing clothes, and the added responsibility?
I think OP has been very generous with her, but it’s really time to kick the “friend” out.
