Man Moves Into His First Apartment—Then the Family Upstairs Starts Waking Him Up Early Every Morning

Apartment living usually comes with some noise, but that doesn’t make it any less frustrating when it starts too early in the morning.
For one man in his first apartment, the problem really started once the family upstairs came back from vacation.
Their two kids often run through the apartment, and the noise can start as early as 6:30 or 7 in the morning.
Since he works from home, he also hears the footsteps and creaking throughout the day.
Now, he’s wondering whether to say something or accept that this is just part of having upstairs neighbors.

I moved into my first apartment in May, and honestly, finding a place was a bit difficult.
Since it was my first apartment, I didn’t have any rental references, and my credit was average, so I’m really grateful that my landlord was kind enough to give me a chance.
I live in a basement apartment, and my upstairs neighbours are a couple with two kids.
When he first moved in, things were great.
During the first two months I lived here, they were away on vacation, so I had pretty much no issues with noise. But since around mid-June/mid-July until now, I’m honestly starting to get really tired of it.
They have two children, and I completely understand that kids make noise. I’m not expecting them to sit quietly all day. But it feels like they walk extremely heavily, and the kids often run around the house. It’s especially bad on Saturday and Sunday mornings.
The problem is that my bedroom seems to be in a part of the apartment with really poor soundproofing. I can even hear their door creaking.
Unfortunately, he works from home, so there’s no escape for him.
Sometimes they’re up around 6:30 or 7 a.m., and on weekends, the running and noise start early. During the week, it doesn’t bother me as much because I wake up early too. But on weekends, sometimes I’d just like to sleep in without being woken up at 7 a.m. by people running around above me.
On top of that, I work from home, so I’m pretty much always here and hear everything throughout the day as well.
I’m honestly wondering what the next few months are going to be like. Will the kids eventually go to daycare or school, or are they going to continue being home all day?
Now, he’s not sure what to do.
I know it’s not really my business, and they obviously have every right to be in their own home, but I’m wondering because it means I could potentially be hearing noise all day while working from home.
Am I overreacting for being tired of it? Do you think it would be okay for me to politely say something to them, especially about the kids running around and the heavy noise early in the morning, or should I just accept that this is apartment living?
I really don’t want to be that annoying neighbour, especially since this is my first apartment, so I’m wondering if I’m just not used to having neighbours yet.
