AITAH for going out without my friend

I work with my best friend, and our coworkers were going out yesterday.

We got invited a week ago, and we both didn’t want to go because we were going to party a few days before.

I worked last night, and I ended up having a really bad night.

So I changed my mind and wanted a drink since everybody was out near work.

I sent my friend a text saying I’d be going out for a little bit and if she wanted to come.

This woman didn’t get a reply from her friend, so she knew she was upset.

I never got a response, so I assumed she was asleep and went about my evening.

She ignored all my snaps I had sent about work and just sent a blank snap.

She ignored my text, showing me she was up and purposely not responding.

So naturally, I know she’s upset. I just don’t know what I did wrong.

I asked if she wanted to come, and got no response.

I simply changed my mind because my night was horrible and wanted a drink.

She wanted to know if she was wrong so she could correct her mistake.

I also tend to miss social cues and have a hard time knowing if little things like this are right or wrong due to my autism.

This friend also, I feel like, can be a tad over-reliant on me sometimes.

She says I am her only friend and won’t do a lot of things if I don’t do them with her, etc.

If I’m wrong, I’d like to correct this behavior, though.

It sounds like there may be an expectation between these friends that was never clearly communicated.

OP did make an effort to invite her, so ignoring her instead of explaining the problem seems unhelpful.

Her friend should have just been honest with her feelings, so OP shouldn’t have to guess what was up with her.
