When growing up, parents often say things that they shouldn’t, which can be hurtful and even damaging.

If your parents were constantly saying these types of things to you to the point where you started keeping a list of them, what would you do with it?

That is what happened to the young man in this story, and he wanted to use some of those quotes to make them feel bad when he gave a speech at his graduation ceremony.

WIBTA if I gave my parents their own words back to them?

So, my brother and I have kept a list of my parents quotes that they say to us.

His parents should be careful about what they say.

Everything to calling me a “massive waste of potential” to accusing me of child **** because I have a VPN.

The list is big and still growing. Next year I graduate HS, and unless I absolutely fail, I’m going to be either Valedictorian or Salutatorian.

Yes, this would be way out of line.

WIBTA if in my speech, I include their quotes?

I was thinking of adding them as a “this is what people said about me, but don’t let that stop you”.

WIBTA?

Yes. What would he hope to accomplish by doing this? If he thinks his parents are out of line with what they say, then talk to them like an adult. Or, move on with your life. No parents are perfect.

Let’s see what the people in the comments have to say about this.

People will know and they won’t think it is funny.

A graduation speech is not the time or place for revenge.
