Workplace expectations can sometimes go beyond actual job performance.

The following story is about an employee who did everything right at work but was suddenly let go over his behavior.

Despite completing tasks well and never being late, he was criticized for not greeting coworkers when arriving or leaving the office.

Now, he’s left searching for a new job just as school is about to start.

Yikes! Don’t you think that’s unfair? Let’s take a closer look!

Got fired at my apprenticeship company for not belonging to their “family” culture.

I cannot believe it. I do everything right. I complete all the tasks well.

I do what I am told, and I never arrive late.

Today, they decided to end my contract.

They said I was not in the “right state of mind,” or some HR crap.

This employee was fired because he didn’t greet his colleagues.

All this is because I do not go around the company saying hello to everyone when arriving.

I also do not say goodbye to everyone when leaving.

I wish I was joking. Those are their words.

Maybe it is because I am young.

Now, he needs to look for another job.

In my previous job, this was not an issue.

Toxic place, I am telling you.

Now, I have to find another company.

School starts in a month.

Seriously? That’s not even a legit reason for not renewing OP’s contract.

It honestly sounds incredibly frustrating, especially when your actual work performance wasn’t the issue.

It’s one thing to value workplace culture, but using it as the main reason to end a contract feels unreasonable.

Hopefully, OP finds a better workplace where his efforts and skills are valued.
