Felipe Nunes, the Double Amputee Pushing the Boundaries of Skateboarding

by twistedsifter

Skateboarding is so beloved because there is no right or wrong way to do it. You can make whatever you want of it and Felipe Nunes is no exception.

The double-amputee lost both his legs when he was 6 (one just above the knee and one just below the knee), but that didn’t stop him from becoming a professional skateboarder, recently becoming an official member of Tony Hawk’s team, Birdhouse.

Nunes isn’t the first ‘hand-powered’ skater, OG De Souza was one of the original pioneers on the skate scene and Felipe has taken that torch and continued to push the boundaries of what’s possible.

If you’re interested in learning more about Nunes, there’s a great interview with Thrasher that you can read here.
