Iowa TV Station Transitions From B&W to Color for the First Time on the Air in 1967
It’s normal now, but once upon a time color TV was something that not every TV station in America had.
And here’s a rare glimpse into a major change in technology.
On April 14, 1967, WMT-TV in Iowa went from black and white to color TV while a news anchor was live on the air.
The clip starts out with anchor Bob Bruner and TV station manager Doug Grant at a news desk. Bruner then walks across the studio to another desk and the transformation to color takes place for the first time on that station.
That’s history coming to life!
