Populations of Endangered Species Depicted by the Number of Pixels

by twistedsifter

Population by Pixel was an award-winning 2008 print campaign for WWF Japan by Hakuhodo C&D. The campaign was awarded Gold at The One Show for its depiction of endangered species populations by the number of pixels in an image of each endangered animal.

The more pixelated an image is, the blurrier it gets and the harder it becomes to discern. This works perfectly with the subject matter and drives home the message with a striking visual.
