Boyfriend Wakes Her Up Every Night Over Her Subconscious Sleep Habits, And It’s Leaving Her Exhausted And Wondering Who’s In The Wrong
by Heather Hall
For some people, falling asleep means lying down and closing their eyes. But, for others, it can mean a series of habits they don’t even realize they’re doing.
So, what would you do if your nightly routines, carried out subconsciously while you slept, started disrupting your partner’s rest?
Would you try to change your habits, even if they were out of your control? Or would you feel justified in asking for some understanding in return?
In the following story, one woman finds herself dealing with this very predicament. Here’s what’s been happening.
AITA? Bf wakes me up every night because I’m giving him sleep issues in my sleep?
My BF and I have been dating for 6 months or so.
I’m a heavy sleeper, and he’s a light sleeper.
I like to rub my feet together before I go to bed, dont know why, it’s something I do subconsciously.
When I’m not rubbing my feet before falling asleep, sometimes I get restless, and it’s like a tick, which you wouldn’t think would be such an issue.
But every single night. My BF will wake me up saying, “Are you okay, baby?” and I will literally have just fallen asleep, so cozy, so peaceful. And then he asks me if I’m okay…
I say, “Yes?” And he says I’m “moving a lot.”
She gets frustrated because he wakes her up too often.
Every time this happens, he can clearly hear he is waking me up, and I’m asleep.
I have even told him that I am unaware of it, and I’m sorry.
He will wake me up oftentimes to fix the blankets as well. If I mess the blankets up the slightest bit.. in my SLEEP… he makes a whole fuss and starts fixing it, whether is 3, 5, or 8 am. And he’s getting frustrated at me for messing up the BED SHEETS.
It’s so upsetting, honestly.
He doesn’t do it in a mean way, and he wants to sleep too. But I can’t help but feel like it’s selfish of him sometimes.
AITA?
Eek! It’s easy to see why both of them could be getting frustrated.
