There’s a steep learning curve when it comes to driving, but it’s still important to take the risks seriously.

When the parents of one teen driver started yelling after he ran a stop sign, he found himself too shaken to keep going.

You’ll want to read on for this one.

AITAH for slamming the brakes on my parents as a new driver?

So I’m 19, and I just started practicing driving a few weeks ago.

Today, I was with my parents, driving us to my grandmother’s.

The drive already wasn’t going well when things got even worse.

My dad was getting frustrated that I kept braking too hard.

My brain got too focused on him talking, and I wasn’t fully paying attention, so I accidentally ran a stop sign.

His parents started yelling, which made them panic even more.

My parents FREAKED OUT, SCREAMING at me. There were no cars around at the sign, nor when I hit the brakes.

Both were yelling at me, and I panicked and couldn’t handle it, so I slammed on the brakes so my dad could drive.

Now everyone’s upset.

They thought I was just being a jerk and pulling a stunt, but I was panicking.

AITA?

This sounds like a new driver’s worst nightmare.

What did Reddit think?

While they aren’t an AH, there is an important lesson here to be learned.

Despite what this teen may think, this really is a big deal.

Maybe the parents should have known this teen wasn’t ready.

In the end, everyone could have handled this a little differently.

It turned out to be a perfect storm of panic and pressure.
