He Kept Changing His Mind About the Car—Until the Salesman Finally Refused to Deal With Him

A customer can only give a salesperson the run-around so many times before they lose their cool, throw up their hands, and say, “Enough!”

And when it comes to cars, well, those folks don’t have a whole lot of patience for a customer who keeps hemming and hawing and making their job difficult.

Take a look at what this car salesman had to say and see if you think he did anything wrong while dealing with this fella…

I rescinded my customer’s car deal. AITA?

“I get paid a the same amount whether I sell a vehicle for $1 or $1,000,000.

I know all car sales people are scum, and you should be able straight from the manufacturer.

My customer wanted to buy a 2025 truck last month but his offer was extremely low. I’m a straight shooter I know the bottom dollar you can buy our vehicles for, and informed him I couldn’t do that deal, so he left and someone else bought the truck.

This Monday he contacts me asking if I could help him, and do the same deal on on a 2026, and while I thought I couldn’t do that I surprisingly was able to talk my manager into doing an even better deal!

Win for me and the customer, right?

This guy was pushing it..

He then proceeded to continue to try to negotiate it down more, I explained to him I couldn’t and he finally agreed to move forward with a credit application. During this process I gave him estimated numbers, and APR that he agreed to.

We got him approved, and I sent the numbers to him, but he didn’t like the higher interest rate that came along with 84 months. Now you can get around that with the low interest rate but you give up the big discounts, which I told him and showed him.

He continued to try to negotiate.

Come on, man…

At this point I’m getting a little irritated, I thought he wanted my help?

I explained I can’t go any further down, or combine the low interest rate with the discounts. It still wasn’t to his liking, and told me he’s out.

No problem I get it, happens all the time.

So I tell my manager, and he gets mad at me because I promised he would buy the truck.

Not to my surprise he reached back out about an hour later trying to negotiate, I explained again I couldn’t get it any better, so he backs out.

This is ridiculous!

Another hour later tries to negotiate and combine all the incentives saying “if you can’t do this, I’m out”.

At this point I’m tired of going back and forth, I worked hard for two days to get him what he wanted.

I told him “I’m going to have to rescind the offer. My GM got involved and didn’t authorize that low of a selling price”.

AITA?”

Well, that was interesting…

And it felt like a human tug-of-war dealing with this guy.

This was doomed from the start!

This customer was a huge pain in the neck!
