Here we go again

It’s yet another story about a bank trying to make things complicated for customers…

But this time, the customer fought back!

Check out what this guy had to say about how he found a smart way to navigate his bank’s complicated credit card payment system.

Get started now!

Can’t program a payment from your bank? No problem, other bank will be glad to help.

“The most beloved bank in Brazil, NuBank, won’t allow customers to program the payment of the credit card statement to a later date.

This is probably because they want them paid as soon as possible, and since we can’t program the payment to the due date, most people may pay it right away.

But they do allow us to program wire transfers to another banks, which are free of charge.

How clever…

Since credit card statements can be paid from any other bank, and my other bank allows me to program the payment of a bill to a later date, this is what I do.

I program a wire transfer from NuBank to my other bank account, to happen in the last day my NuBank card statement is due. And schedule in the other bank the payment of the card statement.

Now, wire transfers in Brazil are pretty fast, and happen in about 30 minutes, but interbank bill payments are slow, and can take up to 2 business day for the receiving bank to get the money, plus it has to pay a processing fee to the bank where the bill was paid (which is not charged to the final customer).

Bam!

So not only NuBank fails to get my credit card payments earlier, but they get it two days later, past the due date, and still has to pay the processing fee to my other bank.”
