My wife (32F) and I (33M) have been married for 10 months.
We have been close friends since 2011.
My parents have really liked my wife the entire time we have known each other. They have been very welcoming of her.
This man learned that his mom is planning to get a bracelet tattoo.
Two years ago, my mom got a bracelet tattoo with space for the initials of the entire family. This includes her, dad, my sibling, and me. She also included space in the design for my sibling and my partners.
Earlier this week, my mom asked us what the initials design should look like.
She scheduled the tattoo appointment for next week.
He and his wife were not comfortable with the idea.
We are both uncomfortable with her getting a tattoo of my wife’s initials.
In part, it feels like a jinx. My wife never had a close relationship with her parents. This also adds to the feeling of it being weird.
We appreciate the sentiment and care about her feelings and how welcoming she has been to my wife. But this feels like too much for us.
