There’s nothing quite as painful in life as being rejected…
Rejected by someone you’re interested in.
Rejected from a job you wanted.
And, in this case, rejected from getting an apartment you really wanted and you thought you were qualified for.
It stings!
And, if it happens enough times, it can lead to a lot of bitterness.

Application denied.
“My husband and I recently got married and we live in Ohio.
We are applying to apartments because I’m pregnant and we want to move out of the 1 bedroom apartment we are living in. This has been my apartment before I met him, so I just had him move in with me.
He has a past eviction from 1 1/2 years ago.
He was in a rough spot.
The company let go of half its employees and he was one of them. To be able to move, he worked so hard to pay it and all of his debt off. Once he did, his credit score jumped from 590 to 700! We even have proof that his eviction is paid off with the “paid off in full” letter.
I have many years of perfect rental history and I have a credit score of 786. We both work good jobs and make much more than 2.5 times the rent.
Bummer!
We applied to an apartment and got denied and they are sending us an Adverse Action Letter.
Do you think there’s a chance we can appeal and get this approved?
We haven’t yet submitted pay stubs or the paid off in full eviction letter yet, because they just were doing an initial screening.
Or is this a lost cause?
He is a veteran and if anyone knows of any programs to help us that would be helpful.
We just need to move because the baby is on the way.”
