He Burns Wood In His Backyard, But His Neighbor Told Him It Was Aggravating His Wife’s Asthma. So When He Refused To Stop, His Neighbor Started Talking Trash.
by Ashley Ashbee
Taking advantage of the great outdoors is a favorite pastime of many people.
But for several decades most people have lived in close quarters to their neighbors.
And that means what you do can affect the people who live near you.
See why that’s especially important in this story and why this person won’t budge.
Check it out.
AITA for burning wood outside my house and making smoke?
I have a lot of wood in my yard that needs to be burned, as I had some of my land cleared and trees cut down.
I was burning some of the wood in the backyard and it makes a lot of smoke.
But the wood wasn’t the only thing heating up…
My neighbor came to my house and asked me to not burn the wood since the smoke has been going into their yard/house.
I explained that I had to burn it and it would hopefully be done soon.
He called the fire department and police department who both let them know there’s nothing they can do.
My neighbor is now telling the whole neighborhood how I’m an AH because his wife has asthma and can’t breathe and I’m being unreasonable.
And things show no sign of cooling off.
I overheard this and decided to say something.
A month ago they had a huge party so I told them they were being an AH then so I don’t see the issue.
I also explained it’s not against the law and I can legally do that on my property.
I had called our local fire department first and confirmed there’s no ordinance or law preventing me from burning it.
So AITA since his wife has asthma and is having a hard time breathing?
Here is what people are saying.
It really does look like he buried it. As if that would distract us…
I’m not sure how the party bit was supposed to make triggering breathing problems okay.
This sums it up nicely. Why mess with your neighbors? You may need them someday.
It’s not as simple as this, but okay.
This is a nice compromise. Also, you can create free postings. Someone will surely pick up free firewood.
He’s blowing smoke, all right…
And no one wants to smell it.
