Picture of the Day: Tham Lod Cave, Thailand
THAM LOD CAVE, THAILAND
In this beautiful capture by Drew Hopper, we see Tham Lod Cave, located in the Pang Mahpa district of Mae Hong Son, Thailand. According to Hopper, the natural limestone cave’s main feature is the freshwater stream that runs through the middle of the cave for about 200-300 meters. On his 500px description page he mentions:
Inside its walls are covered with massive formations and columns over 20 metres high… Right in the middle of the cave there is no artificial light, so to explore the caverns inside you need a guide with lantern to show you around… This photo was taken just inside the exit of the cave, standing on one of the 50 meter columns overlooking some kayakers making their way downstream after paddling through it.
If you like the photo, metallic gloss prints are available directly through Drew’s website. If you’re interested in visiting the caves, Drew recommends John at cavelodge.com for tours.
