It’s that time again, friends…

Time for another story about someone’s neighbor getting mad at them because they had the audacity to park in front of their house.

The horror!

These people just never stop complaining, do they…?

Neighbor complaining about parking our car in front of their house during temporary construction on our house. AITA?

“We are doing a complete renovation on our backyard, including installing a pool.

We have a large 3-car driveway and always park our vehicles on our property or directly in front of our home.

But during the construction project, the pool crew has needed to park their equipment, pile dirt and gravel, load a dump truck – all of the things you’d assume when digging up a giant hole in your yard. Because of this, we have not been able to use our driveway or garage.

We don’t have an HOA, and the street is public. We have 2 vehicles that we have parked in front of numerous neighbors houses during the project, and we don’t leave the cars there more than a day or two without driving them again.

This is all on the up-and-up.

This does not violate any local laws.

We have a legal permit from the city allowing this construction. There have been work trucks, digging equipment, vans, and a dump trailer blocking the spots in front of our own house, and if we parked in these spots, the project would just take twice as long because of access delays.

This morning I had a note taped to my window that said “Put your car at your own house! Rude!!!”

I was parked across the street from my home, halfway in front of a corner lot next to the neighbor that left the note, and halfway in front of the yard of those neighbors.

This is not a big deal…

They had 3 car lengths in front of my car before their driveway starts. I’m not blocking their access, I’m not impeding mail delivery or trash pickup. There is literally nowhere to park “at my own house”.

There is OBVIOUS construction going on at our place, and it’s OBVIOUSLY temporary. If we didn’t park at that neighbors’ house, we’d have to park at another neighbor’s house, so I don’t know what they expect us to do.

We are courteous neighbors, and we aren’t parking there at any other time than during construction.

Get a life, lady!

I know the person who wrote the note lives in the house across from me because she was out there shaking her fist at me last week when I was parking one of the cars AT THE CORNER LOT, not even in front of her house.

I’ve had people park in front of my house, even on a regular basis. I don’t like it, but the street is PUBLIC PROPERTY. I don’t own the street in front of my home.

And if the neighbors across the street had construction going on that I could SEE WITH MY OWN EYES, I would EXPECT them to park in front of my house until they could park at their own Like what does she think is happening here?

AITA?”
