Her Father Finally Exploded at the Neighbor Who Had Terrorized Their Family for Years—Now He’s Overwhelmed by Regret

Sometimes our neighbours can be annoying. And there are times when something that wouldn’t bother you as a one-off really gets on your nerves when it’s repeatedly coming from the other side of your wall, or from your next-door neighbour’s yard. Because we’re all human, and we can only stand so much before something that gets on our nerves becomes too much. As adults we can regulate our emotions, and often have particular coping strategies to help us when something is really annoying us – because as an adult, you know that feeling angry and actually expressing that anger are two different things altogether.

And the person in this story has held his anger in for years. Because over the time they’ve been living near to one another, this guy has learned something about his neighbour – he is really, really annoying. From the constant complaints about this parent’s kids’ parking to actually trespassing on his property, the neighbour has been a pest for a long time – but a recent encounter got the better of this dad, leading him to flip out in a way he would come to regret later.

Read on to find out why.

I think I messed up

My neighbour three houses down behind me has been harassing me about my kids sometimes parking their cars next to our fence.

We do not share any property lines with him.

He’s been complaining for three years and I tried to calm him down by saying ok, until one morning I was doing some yard cleaning around 7:30am.

Let’s see what happened on that morning.

He called me-from behind my fence, mind you I have shrubs and it’s hard to see.

I went and asked how can I help him?

He started going on about my daughter’s car being parked on the side of my back yard fence and asked what I’m gonna do about it.

Then, this parent had finally had enough.

I lost it and I told him to **** off, to go get busy with his life and leave me the **** alone.

I also told him if he ever touched my plants again (since I caught him one time trimming them without my permission) I’d ***** him.

I said if you don’t like what I’m doing, go to court, call the police, but do not talk to me or come near me or near my priority.

I actually shouted at him, because I’ve been so patient and respectful but he took advantage of me and kept hounding me. I’m so embarrassed but I had enough of his bullying.

Yikes.

Clearly this neighbour had been antagonising the family for a long time – but this isn’t the way to deal with it.

Now the drama is even bigger, and while it’s understandable that he flipped after tolerating this neighbour for a long time, it’s only going to make the problems worse.

Let’s see what folks on Reddit made of this.

Some people saw nothing wrong with what he said.

But others pointed out how he could get into trouble, and more sensible measures he could take.

Meanwhile, this Redditor thought that he could take simpler steps to make clear that he wasn’t about to put up with the neighbour’s nonsense any more, too.

It’s quite clear that the kids are doing nothing wrong, and their choice as to where to park their cars has no bearing on the neighbour unless they are parking on his property, which they are not. So the fact that the neighbour has had the audacity to repeatedly turn up and complain about the issue over three years is mind-boggling, especially since they share no property boundaries. You have to wonder what his problem is.

But even though this family have done well to tolerate the guy for years, that doesn’t mean that threatening him is okay. It’s perfectly understandable that dad flipped out after having to put up with these same complaints over and over when his kids are doing nothing wrong, and yelling at the guy is one thing. But actually threatening him is a whole other problem that might stoke further drama between the neighbours. And that’s never a good thing.
