Yulia Brodskaya Rolls Strips of Paper Into Works of Art

Quilling or paper filigree is an art form that involves the use of strips of paper that are rolled, shaped, and glued together to create decorative designs. Paper artist and illustrator Yulia Brodskaya uses the technique to create lush, vibrant, three-dimensional artworks.

Brodskaya started working as a graphic designer and illustrator in 2006, however quickly abandoned the computer programs in favour of paper art. On her website, Yulia explains:

“Paper always held a special fascination for me. I’ve tried many different methods and techniques of working with it, until I found the way that has turned out to be ‘the one’ for me: now I draw with paper instead of on it”.

You can find much more of Yulia’s amazing artwork on her website as well as in countless magazines and numbers books (complete list here).
