Imagine having two kids and one on the way, and you realize you have outgrown your apartment and need a house.
Would you keep your house search local where you would stay in the same neighborhood so your kids could go to the same schools, or would you expand your search and move further away if it meant being able to afford a house sooner?
In this story, one family is in this situation, and the parents are pretty conflicted about what to do.
Let’s read all about it.
AITA for Moving to a New Neighborhood?
My wife and I have been saving aggressively to buy a home.
We’ve been living in an apartment for the 9 years that we’ve been married, and now with two kids and a third on the way were really hoping to move into a house soon.
But it’s going to take longer than they’d like to save up to move.
We even moved into my in law’s basement apartment (it was unoccupied, they made it in case their kids had need of it) to save rent money for a down payment.
The thing is, pricing in our neighborhood is insane.
It would take at least another full year or even two to but something semi decent (we live in New York).
They’re conflicted about moving further away.
So, we’re looking into houses in other states, but we feel really bad about having to pull our kids (5 and 8) away from their friends just so we can have a nicer home that fits our budget.
As though we’re being selfish.
Aita?
The kids are 5 and 8. I think they’re young enough that they’ll make new friends quickly. It’s not like making your child move in the middle of high school or something.

Here’s a vote for moving.

One person criticizes their growing family.

The kids will be fine, but what about the parents?

Everyone thinks moving is a good idea.

It may not be easy at first, but it will be worth it!
