If you go to a restaurant often enough, you might start to get familiar with who works there and how the restaurant is run. In fact, one of the reasons it might become your favorite restaurant is because of how well the restaurant staff works together.
In this story, one couple goes to the same restaurant every Saturday night. They were always impressed with the staff and particularly the manager who seemed to help out the staff in any and every way he could.
But on their most recent visit to this restaurant, they noticed that there was a new manager, and the change was very obvious.

Incompetent New Manager
The place my wife and I are regulars at on Saturday nights just recently had their long-serving manager retire.
He was a great guy, and never afraid to get his hands dirty if his servers were in the weeds.
He bussed, ran food, ran drinks, checked on tables, etc.
The new manager isn’t nearly as good at his job.
We went in tonight and the new guy, well, I get that you need time to learn a new place and staff but you won’t do it standing in the corner on your phone.
The daggers he was getting from staff were ☠️.
Then the kicker of the night…
We were seated and a good 15 minutes went by with no one coming to our table.
Eventually, he decided to ask for assistance.
So I went back to the hostess stand and said “_____, I’m sorry to bug you, but do you know who our server is?”
She looked at our empty high top, back down to her seating chart, glared daggers at the new guy and told us she’d take care of it.
A minute later one of the new servers come flying out of the back, very apologetic.
We told her no worries, got our beer, apps, entrees, etc.
The manager really messed up.
We had an amazing night , because the staff there knows their stuff and they all ran that place together while “manager man” leaned in the corner.
Turns out he cut the server who had our section, didn’t assign anyone to it, and never told the hostess.
We felt so bad for that whole crew. Left a 35% tip (it was what we could afford), encouraged the new server, etc.
So what’s the best way I tell the owner about this? We’re acquainted, but not close, due to my previous other restaurant work.
Yikes! That new manager really does sound awful!
Let’s see what Reddit suggests.

That manager is doing an awful job!
