Sometimes, customers see one thing they want to believe and ignore everything else around them.

One retail employee ran into that situation after explaining that a customer needed one more item for a discount to apply.

The customer then pointed to an old misprinted sign that had been partly uncovered behind the current one.

Even though several other signs nearby showed the correct promotion, the customer insisted the store had to honor the mistake.

Then, after the employee explained they physically couldn’t apply the discount, the customer accused the store of trying to cheat them.

Read on to see how it all went down.

There was 10 other signs around you.

To make a long story short, I was serving a customer and had to point out that they needed one more item for the discount to apply to their purchase.

They then showed me a sign that had slipped, revealing a previous sign behind it that was a clear misprint. The sign that had slipped was still visibly hanging onto the other one.

They started to complain that we had to honor the sign despite our best efforts to apologize for the error. We also explained that we physically couldn’t give out the discount if the rules weren’t followed.

The customers were not happy.

They continued to complain that it wasn’t right and that the store was trying to cheat them out of money.

There were literally 10 other signs with the same promotion in the immediate area.

I don’t know, maybe I’m just being judgmental, but Christ. Now they’re making complaints and ‘reporting’ me because of the incident.

Yikes! People are so quick to report cashiers.

Let’s check out what the readers over at Reddit think about this situation.

Even this person thinks the customer went too far.

Some people simply don’t pay attention.

This customer was really reaching.

If ten signs say one thing and one old sign says something else, it’s probably pretty obvious which one is wrong.

Obviously, the employee wasn’t trying to cheat anyone out of a discount.

The fact that they’re turning it into a complaint just feels like they’re taking the whole thing way too far.
