He Gets Dirty Looks From Both Neighbors Every Time He Uses His Own Garden. He’s Finally Ignoring It

You should never have to feel guilty for using your own backyard.

Still, one homeowner has started feeling that way because both neighbors seem annoyed every time the family steps outside.

On one side, a man comes out almost immediately and starts tapping on the fence or watching from his yard.

On the other, a barking dog runs toward them while the neighbors act like their presence is the problem.

Now, even simple things like watering plants or hanging laundry feel uncomfortable.

Read on to see what you think they should do.

Neighbours act as if going into our own garden is somehow a slight against them

We live in a terraced house with neighbours on either side, and both sides act like we ruined their days when we go into the garden.

One goes in as soon as we step out the back door and then either taps the fence or walls in annoyance. He also stands in the gardens and watches people at night, so yeah, odd, but whatever.

The other side has a dog, as do we, but they let it in the garden, and it barks a fair bit in the house and garden, and they aren’t quick to quiet it down sometimes.

The neighbors with the dog are especially annoying.

Annoyingly, though, when we go in the garden, the dog starts immediately barking and running up the garden, but they appear to react in a way in which us going in the garden is the problem, and the fact they don’t try to stop it acting like this isn’t the problem.

They have put a six-foot fence up and physically move up and down the garden to wherever we are not in the garden, even if we are only putting the washing out or watering the plants.

They also stand in the windows and watch us in the garden as if they should be entitled enough to always be in the garden without us ruining it for them.

She’s getting tired of altering her life for them.

Tbh, I always try to be considerate with everything, but it does make it a bit crap that we seemingly are ruining it all for them just by existing.

I’m someone who always feels guilty for inconveniencing people, so I will feel guilty, but tbh, I’m fed up with people just being so entitled. It’s a terraced garden. How do people live in a terraced house and still expect people not to go out in their gardens?

We don’t play music or make any noise in the garden when we are out there. Should I just ignore them and just go completely about my business as if they aren’t there? A bit of a rant. Just annoying.

Yikes! Most people would feel the same way about that situation.

Let’s see what the people over at Reddit would do if it were them.

Does it though?

They should follow this advice.

The homeowner needs to stop letting the neighbors make them feel guilty.

They aren’t doing anything wrong by going into their own garden, especially when they aren’t being loud or bothering anyone.

If the neighbors want complete privacy, that’s something they need to figure out on their own.

For now, the best thing to do is ignore them and use the garden like normal.
