Living with roommates always comes with certain compromises, but some situations cross the line from annoying into legitimately harmful.

One woman found herself trapped in exactly that kind of dynamic, sharing a house with five other people, two of whom were consistently loud and inconsiderate.

The worst part was one housemate who stayed on speakerphone calls for hours every single day.

Despite running a fan, wearing noise-cancelling headphones, and even repositioning her bed as far from the shared wall as possible, the constant murmur still got through, leaving her without real quiet until nearly midnight most nights.

When she calmly asked her housemate to lower the volume, she was met with a dismissive excuse instead of any actual change.

She’s now watching her health slowly deteriorate because of a problem she can’t seem to solve.

I’m really tired

I live with 5 other people, and 2 of my housemates are really loud and inconsiderate.

One girl is always on her phone on speakerphone, and it’s so irritating.

This tenant has done her best to drown out the noise, but with no luck.

I have my fan on and my noise-cancelling headphones, and I can still hear her.

I moved my bed as far away from the adjoining wall as I could. The only time she’s not on the phone is between 11pm and 5am.

She’s tried to broach the subject as delicately as possible.

If I ask politely to be a bit quieter, she just says, “I’m [certain nationality], we’re loud,” as if that’s okay.

The noise is really starting to get to her.

I’m so tired I can’t sleep at night because of the constant murmur, and it’s so annoying.

I’ve tried everything I can think of, and I’m exhausted. When I’m at work, I just think I don’t want to go home, I don’t want another night of getting barely any sleep. I’m exhausted.

I also have a physical disability which gets worse with stress and lack of sleep, and I hate how much power this one housemate has over my physical and mental health.

This situation can’t go on for much longer.

What did Reddit have to say?

There’s really no excuse for this kind of behavior.

This user can’t imagine being so thoughtless.

Maybe what this clueless roommate really needs is a taste of her own medicine.

Nobody should have to engineer their entire bedroom setup just to survive a housemate’s phone habits.

She’s tried the noise-cancelling headphones, the white noise, the furniture rearranging, and none of it changes the fact that basic respect shouldn’t require this much effort.

When exhaustion starts affecting someone’s physical health, that’s not an inconvenience anymore.

Living peacefully at home shouldn’t feel this hard to ask for.
