I am paying my brother to pet sit for me while I am out of town for 2 1/2 days and 2 nights.

The last time he did this, I offered to buy some food for him.

I knew he was on a strict diet. It was expensive on top of paying him for the pet sitting.

This woman noticed that her brother’s preferred food was quite expensive.

Though he is not on that diet anymore, he still likes certain things from it.

These things are steak, pre-made protein shakes, and no sugar energy drinks.

They are all expensive on their own.

Even more expensive when bought all at once.

Now, she’s planning to tell him to just bring his own food.

I have plenty of food at my house. I tell him to help himself to it.

It is not like he would not have anything to eat.

Since the last time he pet sat, I have gone back to college. I do not have as much money to spare.

Would I be the jerk if I told him he needed to bring his own food if he wanted certain things to eat?

I agree with OP that she has already been paying him to pet sit, and it comes with food from her kitchen.

So covering specialty items on top of that isn’t really required.
