He’s Tired of Seeing the Same Corporations Everywhere—From His Job to the Products He Buys

Modern life often feels driven by constant competition.

The following story is about a man who expressed his frustration with how everything feels like a competition.

From jobs to services, he thinks everything offers the same thing, and people are forced to choose among similar options.

At the end of the day, he said these options are somehow owned by the same corporations.

This idea has left him feeling drained and confused. Let’s take a closer look!

Why is everything so unnecessarily competitive?

I am tired of how competitive everything is.

Everyone with a job is up to their eyeballs in work.

There is associated stress, so there is plenty of work to go around.

Those of us without work have to compete.

There simply are not enough positions available. You need a job to survive.

This man thinks there’s no sense competing because everyone offers the same thing.

Nobody gives you discounted rent or bills when you do not have income coming in.

All of our public infrastructure has been privatized.

This happens even when they are natural monopolies.

Competition simply does not make sense in those cases.

He thinks all brands are partially owned by the same private equity firms.

Services are provided by a myriad of companies. They are all competing with each other.

None of them are any good for the consumer.

There is no meaningful difference between the telecommunications companies, public transport operators, or healthcare providers.

If you follow the money, they are mostly all at least partially owned by the same private equity firms.

These are extortion firms and corporations.

Researchers have to spend the majority of their time competing for scarce grant funds.

They spend less time actually doing research.

Even when shopping at the store, he can’t choose the right products.

I go to the shops. There are dozens of brands for what are essentially the same products.

How am I supposed to choose which thing I want?

They are all owned by the same conglomerates anyway.

We are told that competition is good and consumer choice will force companies to produce better products and services.

He’s tired of all the competition around him.

Over the last three decades and counting, everything seems to have gotten worse.

Everyone and everything is competing in a race to the bottom.

I am so friggin’ tired. I wish we lived in a world that prioritized cooperation over competition.

End rant.

OP definitely makes a good point in his rant.

That kind of frustration really builds up when everything starts to feel like the same system in different packaging.

It’s hard not to feel worn out when even basic choices don’t seem to make a real difference anymore.

Sometimes, choosing becomes more difficult when there are too many options.
