I live with a friend/roommate, and I have two cats.
About two months ago, she finished cooking and left the stovetop hot.
It had the “Hot Surface” indicator on, and my cat ran across it.
She never told me it happened because she said my cat “didn’t seem hurt.”
This woman noticed that her cat was limping.
Two days later, I noticed my cat was limping and found out she had burned her paw.
I took her to the vet and I spent about $200.
I told my roommate that if she cooks, she needs to be more careful because the cats jump on the counters.
I suggested leaving a pot on the hot burner until it cooled. She agreed.
The same thing happened again.
Yesterday, she cooked again while I was out.
This morning I noticed my cat limping again, and this time both front paws are burned.
When I asked my roommate, she said she forgot to leave the pot on the burner.
My cat already has ongoing health issues, and I’ve already spent over $1,000 on vet bills recently.
Now, I have to take her back again because this happened a second time.
So, she asked her roommate to cover the vet’s bill for the second incident.
