The Smoothest Guitar Switch Ever, Featuring Mr. Stevie Ray Vaughan

by twistedsifter

During a show at ACL in Austin, Texas in 1989, one of Stevie Ray Vaughan’s guitar strings snaps during his performance of “Look at Little Sister”.

Without missing a beat, him and his guitar tech, Rene Martinez, pull off a flawless guitar switch because the show. must. go. on.

Rock on Mr. SRV!

As an aside, Mr. Martinez has had a legendary career as a highly regarded and trusted guitar tech to some of guitar’s greatest musicians including: Edie Brickell and Mick Jones of Foreigner, Clint Black, Prince, The Moody Blues, Jimmie Vaughan, Carlos Santana, and John Mayer.

Check out this fascinating interview with Rene as he speaks with PRS Guitars’ Paul Reed Smith about life on the road.
