The Elie, Manitoba Tornado was an F5 tornado that struck the town of Elie, Manitoba, Canada, (40 kilometres (25 mi) west of Winnipeg) on June 22, 2007. While several houses were levelled, no one was injured or killed by the tornado.

Two well-built homes in the town were swept clean off of their foundations, justifying the F5 classification. This makes it one of the strongest twisters on record since 1999 and one of only nine to reach F5/EF5 intensity between 1999 and 2011 in North America. According to the CBC, it was the strongest documented tornado in Canada’s history and the only officially confirmed F5 tornado in Canada.

The tornado caused over $39 million in damage ($41.9 million in 2012 dollars). It travelled about 6km (3.7 miles) and was 300 meters (330 yds) at its widest during its 40-minute lifespan. [Source: Wikipedia]
