There’s a lot to consider in homeownership, and not everyone will agree.

But how do you handle things when neighbors don’t get their way and decide they have a bone to pick with you?

Let’s read this Reddit post below to find out.

Neighbor War

My neighbor (both him and her) have whined about a lot of little things over the last 8 years.

Bad enough that they are the only reason we would move away.

We have considered it many times.

Oof, we are already off to a great start.

Early this summer, they asked if they could heighten our shared fence from 7 feet to 9 feet.

They offered to pay, but we said no and then didn’t hear anything for a few months.

NINE feet? Is it me or is that a really tall fence?

Then in early fall they asked again and offered to pay again.

I said no again.

Then they came back with “You don’t complain about our fence, and we won’t complain about your shed being too close to the others neighbor’s fence.”

So I said give me the weekend to think about it.

That was diplomatic of you…I think?

I, then, spent the weekend moving my shed exactly 10 inches farther away from the fence so it complied with city bylaws, and we haven’t talked since.

Not about the fence, not about anything.

It’s been 4 months.

Wow. We are living for the quiet pettiness over here.

Super petty, but I am quite proud of this.

Was this homeowner being dramatic about the fence? Let’s see what Reddit has to say.

First up, a Redditor called out the fact that an ordinance could’ve halted all this fence talk at the beginning.

A cheeky user advised the neighbor to consider a little thing called nature’s greenery if they still want a taller fence.

A commenter also congratulated but mentioned a report on the neighbor’s may be in their future.

And finally, a reader wrote what we’ve all been thinking.
