It’s insane how some companies would do anything but pay you the amount you deserve.

If you had accumulated a lot of paid time off, would prefer to be paid out for the hours or forced to take the time off?

This user shares how their company refused to pay for their PTO.

Find out how he retaliated.

Won’t let me cash out my PTO?

Not me but a friend I worked with for a while.

I worked a shift based fairly demanding job for about a year with a company that did not care much for its employees or customers.

They were working fairly well…

Despite this they always seemed to get large important contracts.

My partner at this job worked part time, three 10 hour shifts a week.

He was a good employee for the most part and had a fairly large amount of PTO saved up, around 60 hours.

This is where it gets bad!

He ended up needing to quit to pursue more school out of state.

When he gave them his notice (about a month in advance of his last day so that they could have as much time as possible to fill his shifts) they informed him of a new company policy.

Apparently the new rule stated that PTO was “use it or lose it” and could not be cashed out by part time employees when they quit (still not sure of the legality here).

That’s INSANE!

He was disappointed but agreed.

Keep in mind this is not the type of job where one cares about getting a reference later on…

For his last two weeks there he called out of every one of his ten hour shifts, 6 in total.

He had to do something about it!

The company was furious but what could they do he was just following company policy.

They ended up paying someone double time to come in and cover half his shifts but could only do this on 2/6 of the shifts.

YIKES! They got what they deserved!

Why didn’t the company just pay this guy his rightful amount of money?

Let’s find out what folks on Reddit think about this one.

That’s right! This user knows how PTO works!
