Being early in class means you get to sit anywhere you want.

That is why this young woman decided to always arrive in class ahead of time.

She has her own preferred seat near an outlet where she can plug in her laptop.

When a fellow student asked her to move so they could sit with a friend, she said no.

Now, she’s wondering if she messed up.

AITA for refusing to switch seats in class after I got there early and picked mine fairly

I’m 19F and I always try to get to class early so I can grab a spot I’m comfortable in.

Usually, I go for the back row near the outlet since I use my laptop a lot.

I’m introverted, so I prefer sitting where it’s quieter.

This young woman was approached by two classmates who wanted her to move.

One day, I got there early as usual and took my normal seat.

A few minutes later, a girl came in with her friend. They asked if I could move so they could sit together.

I politely said no and told her I got there early and planned to stay where I was.

She told them that they should have arrived early, so they could sit together.

She looked annoyed and told me I should be more flexible.

I replied that if sitting together was that important, they could arrive earlier.

She walked away without saying anything else.

But now, she and her friend make little comments under their breath every class and act cold toward me.

She wasn’t trying to be rude, but she wanted to know if she did the right thing.

I didn’t think it was a big deal at the time, but now I’m wondering if I came off as rude.

I wasn’t trying to be difficult.

I just didn’t see why I should give up my seat when I followed the rules and got there first.

Was I wrong for not moving? AITA?

Was she wrong for refusing to move, or are those other girls just bullies?
