Some people are so used to gaslighting that they don’t even realize how toxic they are.

In this case, a woman’s friend disappointed her in a certain situation. While coffee was spilling on her inside the car and she asked him to pull over, he kept driving.

She asked him more than once, but he didn’t stop, and the coffee spilled on her again just as she had predicted.

By then, she was understandably upset. But according to the friend, she made a big fuss out of nothing, and he doesn’t need to apologize.

AITAH for what i said after hot coffee was spilled on me

I (26F) and my friend (28M) went out this morning to run errands.

While we were out, I asked if he wanted breakfast and that we could swing by McDonald’s and I would be happy to pay.

We ordered and I paid.

When they handed us our coffees, the lids weren’t fitted the best and spilled slightly on my friend but the workers didn’t take it back.

My friend handed me the drinks after he tried to fix the lids and pulled out of the drive through.

Then it happened.

As we were leaving the coffee lid shifted and spilled some coffee on me and I then tried moving the cups to try and place them in the cup holders instead so the hot coffee wouldn’t keep spilling onto my legs and hand.

My friend noticed but kept driving.

He went over a speed bump in the parking lot and a lot of coffee spilled onto me, and I said that it really hurt and burned and asked if he could pull into a parking space so I could fix the lids.

Apparently he didn’t hear her.

My friend kept driving, he went over another speedbump and more coffee spilled onto me. At this point it really hurt and burned, the coffee was very hot.

He kept looking over at me and seeing the coffee spill and me struggle to move the cups.

I asked if he could please turn into the parking space right next to us.

But he said it was disabled and didn’t want to. He went over another speedbump but very slowly this time and nothing spilled out.

I said again that it was really burning and if he could please pull into a spot to help me.

But it was a little too late now.

After that time, he did pull into a space and tried to help with fitting the lids back on the cups.

I was admittedly really upset, and I said to him that I was bothered that he didn’t listen to me the first or second time and that it took three times of me asking and him seeing the coffee spill onto me before he tried to pull into a space.

I also said that he didn’t say sorry to me or ask me if I was okay and that upset me.

But expressing her feelings did nothing.

He told me that he didn’t think about it, that he thought if he continued driving it would be ok because there weren’t any more speed bumps and that I would be fine.

He also said the coffee didn’t feel “that hot” when some of it got on him and he said I seemed fine.

He said it’s unfair to expect him to ask if I was okay and most other people wouldn’t have asked either, and that it was rude of me to say something like that.

I know I was upset and I definitely had a tone to my voice in the moment, my skin really hurt. The coffee lids wasn’t my friends fault, either, which I acknowledged.

He was cruel, simple like that.

Not only for continuing driving after she asked him to stop, but also for telling her it wasn’t a big deal when she told him how she felt.

The friend apparently believed the coffee wasn’t that hot and assumed she would be fine if he just kept going. Unfortunately, “you seemed fine” is usually not the most reassuring response after someone has just told you they’re being burned.

Now I know why he’s only a friend to her.
