High School Senior Kept Missing Breakfast Because Her Sister Ran Late, So She Considered Ending Their Carpool

Nothing tests family patience quite like mornings, especially when one sibling’s slow routine costs the other their actual breakfast.
One high school senior was stuck driving her freshman sister to school as part of a carefully planned, multi-year carpool rotation the family had arranged together.
Despite aiming to leave by 7:20 each morning, her sister was consistently ready closer to 7:30, guaranteeing they’d hit traffic and arrive right as the cafeteria stopped serving breakfast.
Since her sister never ate breakfast anyway, the missed window only impacted the senior, who’d already gone two mornings without eating because of it.
Now she’s debating whether setting a hard departure deadline and definitely catching flack for it.

AITAH for refusing to drive my sister to school unless she’s ready at a specific time?
For context, we go to the same school and I’m a senior and she’s a freshman, and she has this whole plan where I’ll drive her freshman year, my junior year friend drives her her second year, and then she can drive herself the following year.
But there’s one main drawback.
The problem is she takes FOREVER to get ready. My goal is to leave by 7:20, but she’s usually ready by 7:30, and it takes around 10 minutes to get to school.
This starts to put a damper on her day too.
Plus, with how late we leave, we always hit a couple minutes of traffic, ensuring we arrive sometime around 7:45, which is a problem for me because I usually get a bagel for breakfast at school, but they close the cafeteria at 7:40.
And the reason it’s only a problem for me is ’cause she doesn’t eat breakfast, so I haven’t had breakfast the past two days.
Now she’s considering setting a harder boundary.
WIBTA if I said if she’s not ready by 7:20, she has to either take the bus from now on or get our mom to drive her?
Sibling drama is never easy to navigate.
What did Reddit have to say?
It’s easier to just set a time and try to stick to it.

Actions have consequences.

Their parents aren’t likely to be convinced by a Reddit verdict.

Her sister needs to take more accountability.

She’s doing her sister a genuine favor here, gas, time, and effort included, and the least her sister could offer back is being ready when she said she would.
Ten minutes doesn’t sound like much until it’s the difference between breakfast and an empty stomach every single morning.
Nobody’s forcing anyone onto a bus, they’re just being handed a schedule to actually follow.
