Nobody likes feeling as though they’re out of control of a situation. Especially not at their job. In customer service or client-facing jobs, difficult customers like this can often bring about this feeling for the employees involved with them, and it is up to experienced managers to come up with creative ways to fix the situation.

How would you handle an aggressively difficult customer who refused to back down until a manager got involved? One person recently expressed their remorse about how they handled a situation like this with Reddit. Here’s what they said.

I feel guilty for having to transfer calls to my supervisors 😞

I work at Amazon in the retail department, and as you can imagine we are always getting crazy, angry and above all things, abusive people.

I just got a call from an old lady that was very angry because her order got delayed.

That will definitely get them worked up.

She wanted to speak with a supervisor, so I put her on hold.

The supervisor that got the call took a deep sigh, because we both know what was coming to him.

Nobody asks for a Supervisor because they’re easygoing.

Before transferring the call, I hesitated a little, and wished him good luck and told him I’m sorry.

I think he chuckled a little, but it was more of a “I’m going to laugh to avoid crying” type of thing.

Who hasn’t been there?

I understand me getting abused since that’s my job, I don’t like it, but it is what it is.

But I can’t believe that we have to willingly do this to other people 😞, I hate this environment.

That’s why they get paid the theoretical “big bucks”. Let’s see how the Reddit community felt about this one.

Most of the comments were in unanimous agreement.

Another could relate all too well.

But one manager chiming in made all the difference.

This responsibility is, quite literally, their calling.
