Long friendships can change when communication starts becoming one-sided.

In this story, a teenage boy had been friends with a girl for nearly 13 years.

Lately, he noticed that she had started ignoring his messages.

In fact, there was a time when she replied to him after 23 days!

So after noticing the same pattern repeatedly, he decided to treat her the same way she has been treating him.

Have you experienced the same thing? Check out the full details below.

WIBTA If I treat my best friend the way she is been treating me these days?

Just to be clear, I’m still young, turning 17 in the next month, and I’m not a real social person.

I (16M) and my friend (16F) have been friends for many years, almost 13 years now, and live close by.

Recently, since 6 months ago, she has been ignoring my texts and sometimes taking too long to reply.

All her reasons are that she doesn’t use WhatsApp very often, but she is always online on Instagram, which I don’t use.

This teenage boy noticed that his friend had been ignoring him.

Recently, we and some other friends were hanging out after a long time.

And she was constantly on her phone the whole time.

Our group was discussing things, and I was contributing to it.

When I asked her twice or thrice if she got my point, she would sometimes laugh and say:

“Sorry, I didn’t understand anything.” Or that she wasn’t paying attention.

So now, he decided not to reply to her text messages, too.

I asked for her help regarding some general study things and stuff related to studying.

She took 23 days to reply to my chat.

I can confidently say that she isn’t the type of person to take that long to reply.

Now, it’s been almost a week since I haven’t replied, and I don’t plan on replying any time soon.

This has happened before, where she sometimes took a week or two to reply.

Wow! Taking 23 days to answer a simple message can be really annoying.

It sounds like OP’s friend had been becoming too occupied with a boyfriend or something else.

He may be justified in stepping back, especially if he feels like he is always the one trying to keep the friendship going.

Sometimes, the longest friendships come with the shortest replies. Ouch!
