Their Peaceful Street Was Plagued by Non-Stop Nuisance Reports—Then She Recorded the Noise Frequencies

Whether they are a smiling face to wave to across the street, or they water your garden while you’re on vacation; whether you invite one another to barbecues or are firm friends, good neighbours can be priceless. Not only can they improve your quality of life while living in your home – because good neighbours are a breath of fresh air, with extra safety and security knowing you’ll look out for one another – and they can help you to feel comfortable and settled in your neighbourhood.

However, good neighbours are something that a lot of folk don’t think about until something changes for the worse. Perhaps the good neighbours move out and a nightmare family move in, or maybe you move out of a street filled with decent people and inadvertently move into somewhere loud, full of less pleasant characters. You might not notice good neighbours so much while they’re there, but you’ll surely miss them when they’re gone.

That’s exactly what the family in this story found out, when an elderly couple moved in three years ago.

Read on to find out why things have never been the same since.

First day of school ended in cops being called

We have lived in our neighbourhood for nineteen years (we were one of the first houses out here), and we have 3.5 acres.

We are an outside family, always have been. I have two older boys and a ten year old daughter.

We have lots of friends in our neighbourhood that are a lot like us – always outside – and our kids all play together.

However, recently we and a few families in our neighbourhood are experiencing the neighbours from hell.

Let’s see what this bad neighbour situation looks like.

Three years ago an older man and woman moved in. They are about six houses up in the cul-de-sac.

When my oldest was learning to drive, the woman called the police on my son, because he didn’t have a license and she said he was driving recklessly in the road.

We made a makeshift obstacle track for him in OUR YARD, with road cones to practice a K turn at the entrance of our driveway.

The police told her there was nothing they could do because we were on our land.

But then the accusations continued to escalate.

When my boys would go out walking up and down the neighbourhood trying to sell chocolate bars for band, or football fundraising, she would call and say they looked suspicious and she was scared. By this time, I told my boys to bypass her home completely.

The police came out and came to our door asking if my boys had been bothering the older lady, and had they seen or had taken her little dog.

My boys said they never bothered the woman because I told them to stay away from her and they knew she had a little dog and a bigger one, and she never leashed them, but that evening they hadn’t seen either dog.

The dog was outside the next day.

And now even the young daughter is being affected.

Fast forward to tonight. It was the first day of school and my little girl wanted to ride her four-wheeler with her friends in the track that we and a few neighbours have made. We all have four-wheelers and love to ride them.

This lady called the cops on us (our family and our friends across the street) twice. Both times the officers told her we weren’t doing anything wrong, and came down and told us that if she kept misusing 911 they were going to give her a citation.

Then she tried to lie saying we were doing donuts in front of her house and trying to run her over the other day when her and her husband went for a walk?

She has called the police several times in the almost four years she has lived here, on almost all of us that have kids. It is always her.

But this woman is no angel herself.

This lady lets her dogs run loose, yells at the neighbour kids and my kids – and when going past our houses she floors it.

I’m assuming she will continue to call police. She says we are a menace with our big, loud trucks and toys. She even expressed to one of our other neighbours that my family was the trash of the neighbourhood because we are tattooed, and let our hellions run wild.

We have never bothered this lady and get along with all our neighbors except her. We don’t know what to do.

But I’ve had enough of this lady and her lies. Maybe its for attention, I don’t know.

Whether the woman is paranoid and has some mental health issues, or whether she has simply taken a dislike to the families with kids, it’s very clear that things can’t keep going on like this.

When you are at the point that you’re being warned about wasting police time, surely that should be a wake-up call?

Let’s see what folks on Reddit made of this.

This person thought the neighbours needed to get this woman some kind of support.

While others encouraged the family to keep records to back them up if things got worse.

Whatever is going on – whether it’s a welfare issue or some kind of grudge – this elderly woman is causing havoc for these local families, and making them feel surveilled in their own homes. The fact that the police have attended multiple times and been clear that there was no problems or rule-breaking happening should be enough to put her off calling unnecessarily again. But that’s simply not the reality with some folk, and it’s clear that the risk of citation isn’t bothering this old lady one bit.

It’s a difficult situation for such an outdoorsy family to be in, since the time they spend outdoors is being watched – and even reported – by this elderly woman who apparently has nothing else to do with her time. Sure, it could be a sign of some kind of mental illness or deterioration, in which case targeted support and care may help to smooth things over. But if she’s simply vindictive? Well it’s time they start keeping records, perhaps even installing cameras, to ensure that things don’t get even more out of hand.

They need to protect their family, first and foremost.
