Well, there goes the neighborhood…

No one likes to utter those words and when they are thrown out into the ether, you know that things aren’t going well…at all!

The man who wrote this story is pretty unhappy with how things have transpired since someone bought a building next to where he lives.

And it ain’t pretty, folks!

Sudden escalation of harassing behavior.

“This guy bought the vacant business building next to us.

He was great at first, went around and introduced himself to everyone, said he wanted to be a good neighbor.

You know how this is gonna play out…

He’s been anything but.

Most of it has been relatively mild… complaining about people parking in his parking lot and getting upset with our trees dropping leaves on his property. But in the last few months it has gotten a LOT worse.

He basically ignored the property for eight years. He’s used it like a storage facility. We barely saw the guy. Showed up every now and then to carry some random thing into the building.

This doesn’t sound good…

The outside of the place became a mess, there were eight feet tall weeds and tons of junk. I think he must have gotten warnings to clean it up, until he was finally fined. Suddenly he cleaned it up and it was spotless.

Then he started coming after us. He might blame us for getting in trouble with the city. He sent us FOUR letters.

Basically, he gave us three options… clean up his property for him, have him charge us for the cost of cleanup, or cut down our trees.

He can’t take no for an answer.

What a jerk!

He’s acting like a child throwing a tantrum. He’s dumped dirt at the base of our fence. He’s honked his horn. Now today he turned up his truck radio super loud, and opened the doors facing towards our house (at 8:00 in the morning).

I have no idea what he expects any of this to accomplish.

I have called the police, it never really goes anywhere. (Called the non-emergency today and got AI!) We might need to go into the police station and file a complaint.

Or we need to get a lawyer. It’s extremely frustrating because there doesn’t seem to be anything we can do to stop him.

How is he supposed to handle this…?

If we go after him, will it get worse?

It’s weird because like I said, we rarely saw him. Now he’s over there almost every day, for a few minutes or a few hours. Sometimes multiple times a day.

Today it’s been five times so far… the last time he left for eight minutes before he came back. I have no idea what he’s doing over there. Honestly, it’s kinda creepy.

The way he’s been driving in his parking lot, turning around and backing towards our property, it’s like he’s trying to hit our fence or our trees.

I’ve never been so angry at another human being. I’m also extremely anxious.
