Boss: “I love the work you have been doing.

Your vision and hard work is going to help direct and grow the business.

We are already experiencing higher sell through. You are amazing!

hope you work with us forever, and ever, and ever and ever.”

This employee decided not to do more than what he was expected to.

I had 1 year of proving what I can deliver and pitching a winning strategy that requires me to project manage the role-out and plan the strategy.

Me: “Can we discuss my job title and pay increase?”

Boss ignored me for 6 weeks and stopped visiting the studio.

So I decided I am not doing any work beyond my original role scope, unless I get paid for it.

His boss apparently wanted to hire someone to do the work he was already doing.

Boss: “Guess what! You will love this.

We are hiring someone else to do the work you were already doing.

Can I count on you to interview, line manage, and train them?”

Me: “Will I get a raise? Because current competitive market salary will mean I will be managing someone earning more than me.”

He started applying to other jobs.

Boss: “I don’t understand why no one is applying for the roles and doesn’t want to work here?”

Menawhile. I am applying for other jobs during work hours.

Me: “I’m not sure, Boss. What a mystery!”

Staying loyal and working hard is the biggest joke I’ve been told in my career.

It makes sense that people job hop after a couple years.

Employees stay loyal to companies that value them and make sure they are well compensated.
