Former NASA Engineer Builds Custom Car Horn With Distinct Sounds for Every Situation

by twistedsifter

Before making YouTube videos, Mark Rober spent 9 years at NASA JPL, 7 of which were working on the Mars Curiosity Rover.

In his latest video, Mark built his own DIY car horn that makes different sounds for the various situations we find ourselves in while driving. Sometimes you just want to give a courtesy ‘heads-up’ beep to alert other drivers and other times you want to lean on that horn for something egregious..

It’s surprising that no car manufacturer has built a horn with different sounds or ‘intentions’. Any thoughts why?
