DIAMOND IN THE SKY
On November 14, 2012, a total solar eclipse was experienced on Ellis beach between Cairns and Port Douglas in Queensland, Australia. Right before the eclipse, photographer Alex Cherney took this beautiful capture of the last direct rays of sunlight which produced a diamond ring effect.
The total solar eclipse plunged the area into darkness for nearly two minutes. You can see a timelapse video of the amazing event (also filmed by Cherney) embedded below.
