In this evocative image we get a view of the aftermath from the devastating 2020 Beirut Explosions. The photo was shared on Instagram by Adel Karam, a popular Lebanese actor who lives in Beirut.

The most disturbing detail of this catastrophe, is that the main explosion is linked to roughly 2,750 tonnes of ammonium nitrate that had been confiscated by the government from an abandoned ship, and stored in the port without proper safety measures for six years.
