Meteorologist Called His Kids While on the Air When He Realized a Tornado Was Headed For Their Home
A meteorologist in the Washington, D.C. area named Doug Kammerer didn’t hesitate to call his children when he was on live TV when he realized that a tornado was heading straight for his home.
Here’s the video of Kammerer making the call to his children.
#Working4You When a tornado warning sounded last night, Storm Team4 Chief Meteorologist @dougkammerer was working to keep you informed and safe — just like his own family. https://t.co/1iV3XQHB0q pic.twitter.com/xZZrDOWCC6

Kammerer later tweeted about how he felt at that moment on live television.
Yes, had to warn my family! Kids were home alone and I knew they were not watching me on TV! They are safe. Thank you! Scary moment for me though, I was freaking out inside a bit. https://t.co/To8mPxibBh

And people who saw the meteorologist on TV shared their thoughts.
This person thought Kammerer did an excellent job.
.@dougkammerer just put on an absolute master class with @nbcwashington during a tornado warned storm on how to do live broadcasting. 45 minutes straight with no hyperbole, useful information, with relatively limited incoming data, used every available resource. Great work.

And this Tweeter said he showed how you can be a good father and be good at your job at the same time.
A good weatherman… a good father showing us all how to keep calm and do both his jobs at the same time.

Another person praised Kammerer for his multitasking.
Just randomly saw this and wanted to say you did a great job multitasking there.

And another man who lives halfway across the country praised Kammerer as well.
Doug, you just gained a new follower from halfway across the states. Complete professionalism + great parenting on display here. Washington is lucky to have you.
