This isn’t complicated, folks…
So I’m gonna say this slowly one more time so everyone understands it…
If you want to sit in a specific seat or next to a specific person on a plane ride, pay the extra money to reserve that specific seat.
That’s it!
Boom!
And, if you do, you won’t have to deal with any situations like this person did.
Read on and see what they had to say.
AITA for saying no to family wanting to sit together on flight?
“Was on a flight this morning and a gate agent asked me to go to the gate.
She then asks me if I would like to move my aisle seat (that I paid stupid amount of extra $ for because that’s how American is) for a middle exit row seat because they were “trying to keep a family together”.
Hell no!
I said no, because I paid for a seat specifically so I would not get stuck in the middle. I’m sorry but if I wanted a middle seat I would have chosen one, and I was one row behind exit row so it wasn’t like I was moving up.
They were right behind me as I said no and the gate agent goes, “sorry, I tried!”
Hmmm…
I get to my row, and it’s fully grown women. No children around, nothing.
Not sure if that makes it acceptable or not because if there’s someone traveling with children I think it makes such a difference, but I also don’t know everyone’s circumstance.
I’m peeved that the gate agent asked me in general but also in front of them, and what do they expect? It wasn’t a quick flight, it was 5 hours.
I also feel like it’s important to add that the middle seat next to me wasn’t taken the day of flight, only after they assigned seats to those that didn’t pay extra to select one, so I feel like it might just be a planned thing people do sometimes to scam a better seat?
AITA?”
She paid for the seat she wanted. She shouldn’t feel bad about refusing to move.
