She Gave Her Standard Two Weeks’ Notice—Then Her Boss Tried to Guilt Her Into Staying

If you’ve ever left a job before, then you probably know that two weeks is the standard notice time.
That way, the folks in charge can start planning to hire someone new, conduct interviews, etc.
And, let’s face it: there are a lot of people out there who aren’t courteous enough to give any notice, so it is a nice gesture when someone does this.
But I guess some managers are gonna be upset if an employee leaves no matter what.
Check out what this woman had to say about what’s going on since she gave her bosses a heads-up that she’s leaving.
Put in my 2 weeks, getting treated like trash.
“I’ve always known my boss (and her husband that owns the business) aren’t good people.
I learned to manage her and their expectations and just keep my head down, and we had a relatively amicable relationship. They have these weird TED Talks at work about us telling them when we want to leave and that they would also do us the favor if we’re no longer needed.
Obviously, there’s no trusting that.
Well, she did try to tell them…
I put in my notice, didn’t even say what the timeframe was, and my boss immediately says how disappointed she is that I didn’t give her notice (I actually did tell HR it wasn’t a long term fit for me, but it was another meeting she just couldn’t be bothered to attend).
She said there’s no way she can find my replacement in two weeks!!
OMG, what a big issue!
I guess you’ll have to hire someone like everyone else, LOL.
These folks don’t sound like good business owners!
I made the mistake of trying to reason with her and she doubled down that I was screwing her over, and at such an inconvenient time.
What she doesn’t know is that half of her company has called me to tell me goodbye.
I’ve told them what happened, and none of them are surprised and they’re all checked out and on their way out.”
