Giving is good, but not everything you buy for yourself should be shared.

AITA. I bought some very expensive chocolates for myself, but im being forced to share them with my family.

I (16M) bought a small box of chocolates this morning with my own money.

To clarify, there are 6 chocolates in the box, and the box cost 15 euros.

I was and still am intending to eat them all.

Because I paid for them with my own money.

This teenager’s mother demanded that he share the entire box with everyone.

However, my mother specifically is trying to force me to share them with the rest of my family.

She says that me eating them by myself is selfish.

But knowing my family, I might only get to eat one or two out of the 6 chocolates.

He explained his side and hide the chocolates from them.

I tried to explain that I bought them with my own money.

And I wanted to try all the flavours that I chose.

Anyways, we got into a fight, and I decided to hide my chocolates for now out of fear of my family eating them.

Am I being selfish?

I don’t think OP was necessarily selfish for wanting to enjoy something he bought with his own money.

Sharing is a kind gesture when it is voluntary.

But being pressured to give away most of something he purchased for himself is a different matter.
