Sometimes, not getting exactly what you want is frustrating, but how you handle it can make all the difference.

For one fast-food customer, that became pretty clear when he stopped for his usual meal and learned they were out of one of the sauces he always ordered.

Since he knew the restaurant still had the sauce for the burgers, he thought there was an easy way around the problem.

But when the cashier told him she couldn’t put some in a cup, he started getting more and more frustrated.

Before long, he was asking for a manager and thinking about filing a complaint.

AITA for telling the cashier at McDonald’s I wasn’t happy with my experience and talking to her manager?

I am 26M, living in England. I work in a shop close to a McDonald’s. I don’t cook, so I buy McDonald’s every day I’m on shift for either lunch or tea (dinner for the Americans).

I always get the same order: a Big Mac meal with fries and a Fanta; chicken selects; and an extra Big Mac sauce dip on the side. If I’m feeling extra saucy, I get a donut sometimes (usually chocolate, but I’m more flexible here).

Anyway, I recently went back to work after Covid and went to Maccie’s for my lunch as usual. I get up to the drive-through and order my usual. The cashier (female) says they haven’t got any Big Mac sauce packets at the moment.

He told her to just find an empty cup and give him the sauce.

I pointed out that they’re on the menu; therefore, they should be served.

She repeats that they haven’t got any Big Mac sauce containers and that they’re using a reduced menu because of Covid.

I say fine (getting angry now), so just find an empty cup and fill it with Big Mac sauce and charge me an extra 60p or whatever it is.

Frustrated, he started letting it show.

She says no (I’m getting more angry) and that she can’t do that. I start to raise my voice and say it’s ******** because I know they have Big Mac sauce because they’ve made me a bloody Big Mac!

At this point, I’m (enraged) because this **** is making me late for work and clearly isn’t understanding what I’m saying. I tried multiple ways: loud, slow, SOUN-DING OUT EV-ER-Y SYLL-A-BLE, etc.

I then (maybe this is where I’m slightly **) said, well, clearly you’re a moron and can’t understand how to PUT BLOODY SAUCE IN A CUP, so can I speak to your manager?

Then, he told the woman just what he thought.

Cars behind me are beeping, etc., and it’s a mess, and I’m getting stressed because I don’t like when people are rude like that and clearly can tell that I’m in the middle of something.

So anyway, the woman refused and asked me to drive ahead and either pay for my food as is or leave. I chose to pay, but when I got to the window, I made sure to give her a really nasty look and tell her I was disappointed in the service and got her name.

I’m considering putting in a complaint for it for these reasons: It’s my usual order. I offered a viable solution and offered to pay. I paid. She was unnecessarily difficult, made me stressed, and made me late to work, and I was only able to eat half my order in time.

AITA?

Wow! It’s easy to see his point, but his behavior was off the charts.
