Wouldn’t it be great to live in a country where everything would be taken care of if you got hurt on the job and you’d be able to take your time to recuperate?

Well, there are countries out there like that, but in America, not all jobs and insurance companies are so charitable.

And it sucks!

The guy who wrote this story injured himself at work and now he’s seriously stressing out about how he’s going to pay his bills.

Let’s take a look at what he had to say.

Worker’s Comp is a joke.

“At the beginning of summer I moved back home for a new job that FINALLY paid enough where I didn’t feel in constant survival mode.

Now I’m just regular poor, and after having been homeless a few years ago, this truly feels like a new lease on life.

This sucks..

Everything was going great until earlier this week I suffered an injury at work that looks like it really messed up my shoulder. My job does not offer light-duty, I have to be fully recovered before returning to work.

Had my initial meeting with my Worker’s Comp case worker and found out my payments will be based on the higher of my 2024 or 2025 incomes.

Ouch…

I am screwed.

The amount I will be paid out would be enough to make me eligible for Medicaid if it were my actual job. I was, and had planned on, continuing to save money to move my girlfriend up and now I have no idea how I am supposed to pay my bills.

The worst part was trying to explain that to the case worker and her just blowing me off and saying, “well, we have programs if you find yourself needing a nurse.”

EVERYTHING is expensive these days.

How am I supposed to afford the 35% electricity price hike?

How am I supposed to afford $5 a gallon gas?

My overpriced tiny apartment?

The absurdly high food prices in the area?

I can’t get any other form of work, or I violate the terms of my Worker’s Comp. Glad I was such a great employee, just to be screwed over.

I’m just wanting to vent. I have no idea what I’m going to do. I’m just angry, sad, and overwhelmed.
