Do you remember in the movie Office Space when the lead character basically throws in the towel and decides that he’s not gonna try anymore at work?

Well, while we’ve definitely all had those fantasies before, very few of us have ever followed through on them.

But the guy who wrote this story did something similar and he was nice enough to share it with the world!

Check out what went down in this office!

Today my boss had to admit he needs me more than I need him.

“Things have been brewing the last few months at work.

What was a very stable workspace with a good mood between everyone turned over time into a toxic environment where people have little to no time to even think about what they are doing.

Workload was increased to pretty much everyone, stress levels are pretty high within my teams and honestly I started to feel a huge disconnect between what I am doing and what I am being payed for all of this.

This sounds like a pretty good method, honestly…

So today I simply said no.

When more work was handed to me, when it was obvious I had to stay over my work hours and it was expected of me to essentially save the face of someone that poorly planned task distributions on a vacation heavy month, I simply said no.

No arguing. No Shouting. No over dramatic moment.

Just a plain no, and a reminder I have work hours.

“No” didn’t go over well.

People panicked.

It was obvious that deadlines wouldn’t be met and someone would have to explain why.

My direct supervisor tried to make me feel bad about it, then tried in a panic to suggest this may force the company to fire me. And he panicked even more when it didn’t make me flinch for one moment.

It sounds like he reached his breaking point.

I don’t know what got into me. If I am just tired or I simply don’t care anymore. But I said NO And NO it was.

If they wanted to fire me I didn’t even care. And I think it scared them more than me in that moment. Making my manager simply admit they really need me there and if I am not available when things go wrong and no one can fix them besides me.

I am pretty sure I will look at my phone in an hour and have 10+ calls asking me to come back ASAP.

That won’t change his mind.

But I don’t care.

I will be there tomorrow, on time, and if that is not enough then fire me … I don’t care.

Lets see whose house burns faster…”

This is pretty hilarious, don’t you think?

And it’s oh-so-satisfying!

This man is a legend!

This sounds a bit like Office Space, don’t you think?
